DURHAM, NC (October 10, 2018) - John Shen, founding partner of Sunstone Management, a diversified capital management and investment firm based in Long Beach, California, led a discussion on international economics and business at Duke University's China-US Summit 2018 held Saturday, September 29.

The Duke China-US Summit annually brings together distinguished scholars, business leaders and stakeholders from across industries for in-depth panel discussions with a focus on developing global leadership to improve the cooperation at all levels between the two largest economic powers in the world.

John Shen moderated a panel entitled Economics and Business that addressed opportunities and challenges facing Chinese and American industries. Shen also served as a guest speaker to discuss career development with current Duke students. The summit was convened and sponsored by Duke Chinese Student Association (CSA), Duke Kunshan University (DKU) and Duke Kunshan Student Ambassador Council (KSAC) on Duke's campus in Durham, North Carolina.

“Even under the shadow of a possible trade war, the business, technological, and educational ties between China and America continue to grow,” stated John Shen. “At Sunstone, we have unique insight into these complex economic institutions and relationships on both sides as our business serves the capital management needs of Chinese high net worth families and invests in fast growing US companies.”

John received a master’s degree from Duke University in 1996 is a current member of the James B. Duke Society and the President Society Council of Duke University. He has led the Alumni Admission Advisory Committee (AAAC) in China since 2013 and engaged the global variety of alumni community in China and in the US for the past decade. In 2015 John became a recipient of the Forever Duke award for his effort and dedication to Duke.
