The place that I want to talk about today is the place where I went to school and spent my most valuable a couple years of my life; Kellogg. It’s a small town in northern Idaho nestled within a narrow valley in the Rocky Mountains. The summers are hot and dry with bright blue skies while the rest of the year is cold and dreary with knee-high blizzards not being a rarity in the winter. （给出答案）

My husband is also from there, his parents came to the area in the 1990’s when they got out of the US Army. When his father was my age, there was a dispute between the big mine in the town and the workers, so the mines shut down. The town lost a lot of jobs and shrank to just over 2,500 people. Now it’s mostly known for the large ski resort there called Silver Mountain. It’s a huge tourist attraction and in the winter the downtown area of Kellogg is packed with people coming and going from the ski resort. They have a hotel there with a water park in it, too and it’s always full of people from the first snowfall until March the next year.（背景介绍）

They also have the world’s longest gondola, which is a cable car that takes you up from the town around the mountains and into the resort. The whole journey up is really amazing. When you are up in the air and can see the town from above and all of the little smaller communities that go up from Kellogg out of the valley and into the mountains. （选其中一个点）

Seeing the Rocky Mountains from that angle puts the world in perspective for me. You can see for miles out into the Coeur d’ Alene National forest to the north and the border to Montana not far away across another pass to the east. It’s a sight that always made me appreciate the great and timeless world that I lived in. It’s always a place that I go back to in my mind when I feel like I’m stuck in the big city.
