This is a great opportunity for a specialist in Chinese Art to work in an internationally renowned team with some of amazing Chinese works of art.

Responsible for new business generation and for the sourcing, authentication, evaluation and sale of property to meet sales and profit targets as directed by the HOD. You will play an active part in the day to day business getting for the department’s sales, with responsibilities and tasks allocated to you by the HOD.

The role is London based but entails wide ranging international travel. You will be expected to be able to work as part of a team but also to take the initiative in certain projects.

·Business getting and negotiation, meeting sales and net profit targets for Bond Street sales, assisting with the preparation of proposals for sale.

·Strategic long-term business getting focusing on high level clients.

·Setting an example of scholarship providing expertise, researching and cataloguing objects to the highest standard, according to client service and sale deadlines.

·Ensuring that all photography for catalogues is complete in a timely manner.

·Dealing with paste-ups and layouts.

·Liaising with Catalogue Production and other support departments.

·Dealing with day-to-day client enquiries at the counter, by email and on the telephone.

·Writing condition reports and responding to photo forms, estimate enquiries and general correspondence.

·Preparation of valuations for insurance and other purposes.

·Maintaining a high level of client service and effectively managing and developing clients.

·Operating at all times in accordance with the company’s rules on compliance and corporate governance.

·Attendance at major selling locations in your field as required (i.e. Hong Kong/New York/Paris)

·Facilitating Private Treaty sales where appropriate.

·Input into Marketing and other PR initiatives in the department

·Well-developed knowledge of Chinese Works of Art

·Language and Communication skills to include fluency in Mandarin.

·High level of expertise through time spent working and studying in the field.

·Extensive network of contacts.

·In depth market knowledge and awareness

·Functional working knowledge of the auction process and related procedures (e.g. shipping regulations, VAT)
