Miles Davis is considered one of the most influential musicians in the development of jazz. Born in Illinois in 1926, he traveled at age 18 to New York City to pursue his dream of performing music. His band recorded several albums throughout the 1950s, 60s, and 70s, including Birth of the Cool, Porgy and Bess, and Kind of Blue.  Throughout his life, Davis was at the forefront of a changing concept of jazz. He was an integral member of the jazz fusion movement, a blend of jazz and rock, and he was the winner of nine Grammy awards and was even featured on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine—a first for a jazz musician!  What Miles Davis songs do you remember?
