Mission
Description of the Business Line or Department
The key objective of the Financial Crime Team is to prevent SGPB Kleinwort Hambros breaching any law or regulation relating to financial crime by providing guidance to the SGPB Kleinwort Hambros Group on anti money laundering, countering terrorist financing, tax evasion, sanctions and bribery & corruption (“financial crime”).
Summary of the key purposes of the role
·To alongside the Group Head of Financial Crime and other Compliance colleagues to provide guidance to management and staff of SGPB Kleinwort Hambros so that the business remains compliant with all relevant financial crime regulations, legislation and best practice
·To manage a specific task force created to investigate sanctions, PEP and adverse media alerts (“the Spike”) following the implementation of a new automated screening tool
Summary Of Responsibilities
·Manage the Spike Team
·Perform quality assurance work on alert clearance by “junior” members of the Spike Team
·Escalate concerns and / or material alerts to the Group Head of Financial Crime
·Provide management information on a regular basis to the Group Head of Financial Crime
·Work with other Compliance colleagues to recommend enhancements / improvements / tuning suggestions to improve the screening process
Delegated responsibilities
The job holder will work alongside other Compliance staff and the Group Head of Financial Crime. Whilst the role holder will have the responsibility to clear screening alerts subject to escalation of potentially material concerns to the Group Head of Financial Crime.
Level of Autonomy and Authority
The job holder will work alongside other Compliance staff and the Group Head of Financial Crime. Whilst the role holder will communicate with staff and respond to queries, the role holder will have no decision making responsibility.
