Should women be in the armed forces? — Some people think women should be allowed to join the army, the navy and the air force just like men. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

There is a long-standing gender stereotype that women are incapable for male-dominated professions. Whether females should be allowed to enlist in the armed forces has long been a contentious issue in the public. It is my contention that, to a large extend, women should be encouraged to serve in the military (参军的正确表达哦).

Granted, females may lag behind in terms of physical stamina where males normally have an advantage. Therefore, women are traditionally (高端副词使用) assigned to some positions in which their lives may not be put in jeopardy and less physical strength is required, for examples, nurses,secretaries and radio operators. At any rate, in modern-day society, an increasing number of women are as physically capable as men. Training in the defence forces may contribute to their capabilities to perform well. Additionally,technological advancements are changing the essence of warfare. Modern warfare is becoming as much more about sitting behind a computer to analyse, monitor and command as it is about (more aout...as it is about 简单好用) dodging bullets on the battlefield. In light of this trend, it is evident that both genders may meet the demands for more knowledgeable and intellectual professionals in different sectors.

It is also noteworthy that the acceptance of women in the military could, to some extent, strike a balance between genders, and promote gender equality. Current research suggests that a balance of the number of different genders may facilitate work efficiency and productivity in the workplace. Traditionally, the military has been dominated by males. Thereafter,introducing more females into certain positions may presumably alleviate the imbalance. Undoubtedly, recruiting women to serve in the military may be an embodiment of gender equality which to some extent may contribute to eliminating gender discrimination in the broader community.

Based on the arguments above, I am of the firm belief that women should be allowed to enlist in the armed forces to achieve their career goals. And that will be beneficial for motivating military development and social equality.
