'Don't count your chickens before they hatch'指的是不要想当然地认为事情会往某个方向发展并由此做出计划,要先看事情发展再说:
'It's not your birthday yet, sodon't count your chickens before they hatch'. (还没到你的生日呢,别蛋还没孵就数小鸡。)
'chicken and egg situation'指的是一个很难说两件事哪件事先发生或哪件事为因、哪件事为果的情况:
'I can't get a job because I don't have experience, but how can I get experience if no one will give me a job. It is achicken and egg situation.' (我找不到工作因为我没有经验,但如果没人给我工作,我怎么会有经验。这真是个鸡和蛋谁先谁后的问题。)
