本次讲座中,上海美国中心请到了来自旧金山的当代著名水彩画家盖瑞·布科夫尼克。作为一名对中国艺术、文化和人民都怀有浓厚兴趣和尊重的美国艺术家,盖瑞在旧金山和上海都有自己的工作室。盖瑞将和大家分享他在俄亥俄郊区的成长经历,以及作为一名独立艺术家的经历和挑战。他也会介绍自己的绘画作品和最近刚刚在北京东山美术馆开幕的展览,以及他和美国多个慈善机构合作的经验。不管我们在地球上哪里居住,以艺术谋生都是一件困难的事情。盖瑞将在上海美国中心和大家分享他的艺术人生故事。

 

The Shanghai American Center welcomes Mr. Gary Bukovnik, anAmerican artist and watercolor painter based in San Francisco. As an AmericanArtist with a deep interest and respect for the arts, culture and people ofChina, he has established studios in San Francisco and Shanghai. During thistalk, Gary will share his personal story of growing up in rural Ohio and thevaried experiences and challenges as a self-supporting artist. He will alsodiscuss and highlight images from his studios, as well as his most currentexhibition at the Dongshan Museum in Beijing. In addition, he will to speak tohis experiences as an artist contributing to charitable initiatives in the U.S.No matter where you live on the globe, making a life in art is a difficultundertaking! Gary looks forward to share knowledge and insights gained over theyears.

嘉宾介绍ABOUT THE SPEAKER


Gary Bukovnik(盖瑞·布科夫尼克)1947年出生于美国俄亥俄州克利夫兰,目前已在旧金山生活和创作近40年。他主要运用水彩,单版和复版印刷等媒介,将感性及流畅有力的着色融合,创作出兼具深度和强度,令人赏心悦目的花卉和烹饪艺术形象。盖瑞在2003年和2005年两次成为罗马美国学院的访问艺术家,2010年在位于卡拉马祖的密歇根艺术学院做驻留艺术家,并于当年在日本做了水彩画的巡回展览和展示。更多介绍及作品请访问:http://garybukovnik.com

 

Born and educated in Cleveland, Gary Bukovnik has lived in SanFrancisco for more than a third of a century. Primarily using the media ofwatercolor, monotype, and lithograph, Bukovnik fuses sensual vitality withfluid yet powerful colorations, creating floral and culinary images of greatdepth, intensity, and size. In 2003 and 2005, invited Bukovnik was VisitingArtist at the American Academy in Rome in 2003 and 2005 and was anartist-in-residence at the Michigan Institute of Arts in Kalamazoo in 2010, aswell as making a tour of exhibitions and watercolor demonstrations across Japanin 2010.
