The China Scholarship Council (CSC) is a non-profit institution under the Ministry of Education China, which administers government scholarships to sponsor Chinese citizens wishing to study abroad. The State Sponsored Postgraduate Programme supports more than 5,000 research students each year and provides living expenses and one return flight ticket to successful applicants.

The School of Biological and Chemical Sciences offers PhD Studentships in partnership with the CSC scheme. Last year over 30 CSC scholars succeeded in gaining PhD places in a range of disciplines, making Queen Mary one of the biggest supporters of this scheme in the UK.

Under the scheme, Queen Mary provides scholarships to cover all tuition fees, whilst the CSC provides living expenses and one return flight ticket to successful applicants. We have been awarded a total of 12 fee waivers for students to start in October 2015. Therefore, we welcome applications from Chinese students who want to undertake their PhD studies within our highly ranked research departments.
