Working closely with the Corporate Development Director, the job holder will be responsible for assisting with various business development initiatives which ensure that business units within the Hyperion Group (in the UK and around the world) can maximize business opportunities and are “stronger together”.
The jobholder will ensure that responsibilities are completed in accordance with the relevant Company and/or Group policies
Analysis
- Design internal surveys and assist with results analysis
- Conduct ad-hoc research to support initiatives (e.g. regional business data; industry trends)
- Work closely with the Marketing and Information Management Departments to design reports and/or create dashboards
Administration
- Organise international business forums and any other related activities which may include co-ordinating the logistics, agreeing format and content of meetings, producing supporting literature, taking meeting minutes and following through on action plans and key management updates
- Liaise with marketing department to provide content for marketing literature / company communications / social media updates as required
- Data entry and data computation on Company systems and Excel Spreadsheets
- Build appropriate storage systems for key market intelligence so up to date and accurate standard reports can be produced
- Ensure up to date records are maintained at all times on the Company systems for the department
Clients
- Respond to the department’s requirements as appropriate (eg organize client’s visits)
- Behave with all clients (both internal and external) fairly and ethically
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable Company and/or Group policies and procedures
- Ensure correct authorisation is obtained and processes followed when required by the Company and/or Group policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
- Ensure that own performance, HR and T&C records are up to date and meet the Group’s requirements
- Maintain accurate records and deal with correspondence appropriately
- Ensure compliance with Anti Bribery and Corruption policy and procedures
Reporting
- Provide relevant management information to senior management where requested
- Projects
- Manage assigned projects and contribute to other projects as required
- Keep actions, risks and issues logs, prepares minutes and updates
- Respond appropriately to urgent issues as they arise
Market Awareness
- Keep informed of business, legal and regulatory developments relevant to the department as appropriate to role; attend conferences as needed
- Share information that could be beneficial to the Company to colleagues as required
Representing the company and any other reasonable duties, as required
Skills and abilities needed to perform the role
- Able to analyse information and spot potential business opportunities / business trends
- Numerate
- Attention to detail with ability to produce accurate documentation and to file documents appropriately
- Ability to work effectively within a team
- Prioritisation and organisational skills
- Self motivated
- Competent IT skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Projects, Excel and PowerPoint
- Familiar with Social Media platforms and how to use these to get effective business messages communicated
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external stakeholders
- Adaptable / Can do attitude – able to change plans at short notice and willing to travel to other locations both within the UK and globally in order to support business initiatives
Knowledge and Experience
- Degree educated
- Experience not essential, training will be given
- Subject of degree is relevant to insurance e.g. Finance / Business Studies / Insurance
- As this is a role which will involve the job holder liaising with business contacts across the globe, preference will be given to applicants who have additional language skills within the major business markets e.g. Spanish / French / Mandarin (Mandarin speaking abilities being particularly favoured)
- Previous experience of working in an office environment in an administrative capacity and/working within insurance
- Knowledge and understanding of business systems or processes operated within Hyperion
