This exciting opportunity is for a Purchasing Scheduler to join our Sigma China team operating from one of our UK sites.This role would suit a graduate looking to break into the manufacturing sector or someone with up to 5 years purchasing experience. As Purchasing Scheduler, you will be responsible to the Chengdu Project Manager based in the UK in order to manage the purchasing schedules for two rapidly growing Sigma facilities in China; which supply into the UK to support on time, in full, customer deliverables. This role will work extensively close to the Sigma Chengdu and Xi’an operations teams to ensure the timely flow down of customer requirements schedules throughout the supply chain. You will develop and grow cohesive purchasing practices within our organisation through building relationships, gaining buy-in and delivering excellent communication - a key part of this role.
The successful applicant for this position will be responsible for the following key duties:
- Generating order schedules and raising purchase orders for both Sigma sites in China
- Forecast levels of demand for Sigma products
- Working with Operations teams to develop attainable schedules, eliminating inefficiencies and improving work flows to meet adherence to end customer deliveries
- Identifies and communicates critical issues, gaps and constraints to leadership and stakeholders
- With the support of the wider team, facilitates communication and action to resolve supply constraints and/or bottlenecks
- Attention to detail and accurate interpretation of MRP (Material Requirements Planning) data
- Providing progress reports, prioritising workloads and liaising with colleagues based in both the China and UK sites
To be considered for this role you should fulfill the following minimum criteria:
- Degree from an accredited University with a bias in supply chain planning or operations production management, or similar industrial experience
- Ability to work within a team to ensure that all tasks are completed on time
- Strong IT skills; in particular Excel and Outlook
- Preferred but not essential is experience in the navigation through and interpretation of data in an ERP system
- Ability to speak fluent Chinese and English
- Excellent communication skills
- Flexibility, and the ability to adapt to new situations, using initiative and exercising sound judgment
