Some people think that people who decide on a career early and keep to the same job are more likely to get a satisfying career life than those who frequently change jobs. To what extent do you agree or disagree? 

Some people believe that people who make an early career decision and keep the same job are more likely to get a satisfying professional life than those who often change jobs. I personally, disagree with this perception.

It could be true that people who realise what they want early and carry on in the job, end up being absolutely satisfied. But, it is possible that people are not really content and get bored with the monotonous career which in turn, may result in more stress. Many people need change in their work life and a regular move in career paths might be an exciting experience for them.

In today’s ever-changing times, most people prefer to work in fields that are close to their heart. Frequently changing jobs may be a way of finding the field that resonates with a person’s skills and passion. For instance, a person might shift from an accounting job to client advisory if he finds a people skills oriented field more stimulating than a desk job. It is similar for entrepreneurs who might try different businesses before sticking to the right one.

In conclusion, I do not believe that people who decide on a career path early and stay on it are more likely to gain job satisfaction than those who frequently change jobs. There may be times when people find their work to be mundane or when they are seeking their ‘right fit’, where frequent change in jobs would mean greater pleasure. Finding the passion rather than making an early decision of a career path, in my opinion, means greater likelihood of career life satisfaction.
