#ReligiousFreedom

The Amish people, a group of traditionalist Christians, known for simple living, plain dress and reluctance to adopt many conveniences of modern technology, emigrated from Switzerland to the Pennsylvania in the early 18th century.  The original group of 200 Amish immigrants in the 18th century has grown to over 249,000 with communities in eight mid-western states.  The Amish descendants today live much as their immigrant ancestors did – they continue to speak Pennsylvania German and value rural life, manual labor, humility and family as they seek to follow their religion.  What do you know about the Amish community in America?  Perhaps you have visited their communities while traveling in the United States?
