欢迎您于11月17日星期六前来北京美国中心,参加由美国驻华大使馆地区英语项目办公室(Regional English Language Office)举办的第二十九届英语教学研讨会!此活动免费面向各学段英语教师及教研人员。
本次活动由2位目前在中国高校执教的美国外语/二语教学领域的英语学者(English Language Fellow)为大家带来4场时长各75分钟的工作坊。活动限100人,实名注册,报满即止。参加活动时请务必携带有效身份证件。

9:00-9:15: Opening Remarks
9:15-10:30: Getting to Know Each Other: Learning Names and More! – Lauryn Gallo
Teachers and students feel more connected and comfortable with one another when they can call each other by name. This workshop will look at several strategies and activities that teachers can implement throughout the semester to learn students’ names more quickly, while also getting to know students better. These activities can provide teachers with useful information about students’ wants, needs, interests, and characteristics, while also giving students a chance to learn their classmates’ English names. Teachers will leave this workshop with ideas to try out in their own classrooms to create environment where each student feels comfortable and included.
10:45-12:00: Designing Classroom Environment: Incentive Systems and Classroom Management Options – Kelly Donovan
This workshop will explore various methods to creative a safe, happy, and engaging classroom environment. The presenter will guide a discussion about incentive systems, rules, classroom management styles, attention getters, and various other classroom management techniques. Participants will be asked to design and differentiate these options to fit their specific contexts.

13:30-14:45: Sharing the Responsibility: Classroom Management in Student-Centered Teaching – Lauryn Gallo
In this workshop, participants will learn classroom management strategies focusing on engaging learners in the process to achieve a student-centered learning environment. This session will discuss approaches that are particularly useful in large classes, but also work in smaller classes. These strategies can keep students’ attention and prevent discipline problems, while also promoting cooperative language learning, collaboration, and self-assessment. Workshop participants will leave with ideas for transforming their classroom management style to integrate student-centered techniques that ask students to share in the responsibility of facilitating both their peers’ and their own learning.
15:00-16:15 The Power of the Language Learning History – Kelly Donovan
In this workshop, the participants will explore the value of writing a language learning history for both classroom and professional development use. A language learning history is a reflective narrative that describes the journey the language learner took to acquire a language. This narrative should include cognitive, metacognitive, affective, and performative strategies used throughout their journey. The presenter will share various examples of language learning histories and activities to integrate them into the classroom and training workshops.
