On November 6, Americans will vote in the 2018 midterm elections. There is a lot at stake, and election results will shape U.S. politics for at least the next few years. Two days after the election, we invite you to learn about the results and what happens next. Join us for a presentation on how the U.S. system of government works and an analysis of the midterm election results. All 435 seats in the United States House of Representatives and 35 of the 100 seats in the United States Senate will be contested. Thirty-nine state and territorial governorship as well as numerous other state and local elections will also be contested. You can learn more about what it means to take control of Congress and the separation of powers between Congress, the President, and the Supreme Court. Even if you aren’t interested in politics, you might be surprised to learn how much an individual vote can matter. In some recent U.S. elections, winners were decided by very small margins, sometimes by only a few hundred votes. We hope to see you in Lincoln Hall at 7PM on Thursday, November 8.
