要表达一些“中国特色”的英文单词确认不易，但随着中国文化的影响力越来越大，越来越多的机上外籍旅客对中国的春节文化感兴趣，在机上总会问一些相关的问题，遇到这种情况，我们的CC应该如何应对呢？那么今天Winson老师给各位CC支支招，给大家介绍一些具有“年味儿”的英文单词。

一、节日相关词汇

1、Year of Goat/Sheep/Ram?羊年

goat [gəʊt] n. 山羊 sheep [ʃɪːp] n. 绵羊 ram [ræm] n. 公羊，白羊座也是这个ram哦~

中国羊年简直要把全世界的英文媒体搞疯了，因为他们不确定究竟是哪种羊。就连我们自己对羊的解读也不同。

2、Chinese Lunar New Year中国农历新年

说起新年new year，老外第一反应是1月1日元旦，那怎么表示中国的农历新年呢？就要学习lunar，[ˈluːnə]adj. 农历的、月亮的。

3、lunar calendar 农历

首先要掌握calendar ['kælɪndə] n. 日历chart showing the days, weeks and months of a particular year。我们可以和老外介绍，中国人过节主要是依据lunar calendar

4、Lunar New Year’s Eve除夕

除夕对中国人来说也是非常重要的，首先学习一下 eve [iːv] n. 前夕。有CC问，这个单词看起来怎么这么眼熟啊？是的，它还有夏娃的意思哦！

5、Spring Festival春节

spring [sprɪŋ] n. 春天 festival ['festəvl] n. 节日。需要注意的是，因为春节是一个专有名词，所有表示春节的时候，这两个单词都需要大写哦！

6、the Lantern Festival元宵节

元宵节是春节之后又一重要节日，猜灯谜是重要的活动之一。灯笼是 lantern [ˈlæntən]，灯谜可以说 lantern riddles。

e.g. Do you like guessing lantern riddles on the Lantern Festival?

二、过年食品词汇

7、rice cake 年糕

rice cake是过年必不可少的食品之一。

e.g. Most popular in eastern part of China because its pronunciation is a homophone(同音) for "a more prosperous（繁荣） year".

8、family reunion dinner团圆饭

过年的时候，一家大小都会相聚一起享用family reunion dinner。reunion [riːˈjuːnjən] n. 表示团圆、团聚的意思。

9、New Year’s Eve dinner年夜饭

我们的CC开始飞行后，基本上都没办法过年归家和家人一起吃年夜饭。在这里，小编想感谢我们的CC，正因为有你们在过节的时候，将一位位旅客送回家里，他们才能够赶回家和家人吃上年夜饭。谢谢你们！

e.g. The New Year's Eve dinner is very sumptuous and traditionally includes chicken and fish

10、Jiao-zi(dumplings)饺子

Eaten traditionally in northern China because the preparation represents packaging luck inside the dumpling.

11、Yuanxiao (rice dumplings)汤圆

Yuanxiao also has another name, tangyuan. Tangyuan is small dumpling balls made of glutinous rice flour（糯米粉） filled with rose petals（花瓣）, sesame（芝麻）, jujube paste（枣糊）, walnut meat, dried fruit, sugar and oil.

12、candy tray 糖果盘

看到tray这个词，CC是不是觉得特别熟悉啊！是的，飞机上的小桌板就是tray table。tray [treɪ] 本身有盘子的意思。candy tray是小孩子特别喜欢的哦。

13、peanut candy 花生糖

花生是我们飞机上常用的单词，peanut ['pɪːnʌt] 过年有些地方会吃花生糖。

三、过年习俗词汇

14、Spring Festival Couplets春联

过年的时候，家家户户都会在大门两边贴上Spring Festival Couplets。couplet ['kʌplɪt] n. 本身有对联的含义。

e.g. Families in China will decorate their front doors with Spring Festival Couplets, which expresses the feeling of life’s renewal and the return of spring.

15、propose a toast 敬酒

对中国人而言，过年在餐桌上少不了敬酒。敬这个动作，在英语里可以用propose表示，[prə'pəʊz] 原意是提议、建议，还有求婚的意思。

16、fireworks 烟花

说起firework [ˈfaɪəwəːk]，大家最熟悉的还是“水果姐”的那首歌吧，可惜今年的格莱美上“水果姐”仍旧陪跑。

17、firecrackers 爆竹

虽然很多大城市已经禁止firecracker [ˈfaɪəˌkrækə], 但是这仍旧是我们重要的过年传统之一。

e.g. Firecracker is meant to send off the old year and ring in the new.

18、pay a New Year call 拜年

过年的时候，我们还得四处拜访亲戚，给他们pay a New Year call。别看到call就以为是打电话的意思~call除了打电话，还有拜访的含义。常用词组有call on。

e.g. On the morning of the lunar New Year's Day，people get up very early and call on others.

19、lucky money 利是钱

过年孩子们最期待的就是lucky money。It is a tradition(传统) to give lucky money to younger generations by their parents, grandparents and relatives. It symbolizes(象征) luck and wealth.
