Events & Marketing Coordinator, CanCham Shanghai

The Events & Marketing Coordinator will be supporting the Chamber’s Marketing and Events departments on a wide range of events and marketing projects. Responsibilities of the Events & Marketing Coordinator shall be, but not limited to, the following:


  • Create event calendar and budget for the Chamber with the Events Manger and the Executive Director

  • Initiate and organize social and business events with goal of educating and servicing
    CanCham Members

  • Helps manage relationships with outside parties, including other Chambers of commerce, government entities, etc, keeping in mind the Members’ best interests

  • Maintain and develop current committee activities to create value for Members

  • Develop potential new events and identify ways of enhancing events

  • Meet yearly budget objectives as well as create and control budgets for specific events

  • Coordinate and liaise with suppliers, venues, talents, sponsors and partners

  • Develop and meet execution timelines

  • Work with Media & Communications Manager for the media and promotion of events

  • Coordinate events onsite and execute according to the Chamber’s standards

  • Generate and recruit sponsorship


Other duties include but aren’t limited to:

  • Create communications materials including proposals, presentations and notices

  • Service partners, sponsors and clients

  • Negotiate for venues, services, products and goods

  • Manage interns


Desired Skills and Experience

  • College or University graduate

  • 2 years relevant experience

  • Canadian passport holder or native knowledge of Canadian culture

  • Good understanding of office administration, processes & procedures, and interrelationships

  • Excellent problem solving skills and capacity to adapt to various situations

  • Self-starter and sense of ownership

  • Interpersonal skills (ex: good telephone manners, works well with team members)

  • Ability to prioritize and manage various tasks in an efficient manner

  • Flexibility in work hours

  • Documentation and computer skills

  • Proficiency in written and verbal English

  • Proficiency in French and/or Chinese is an asset

  • Working proficiency of Adobe Creative Suite software (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)

  • SEO, data analytics and CMS experience

  • Mass email marketing and contact database management experience
