根据英国移民政策规定，来英国居住超过6个月以上的、年龄超过16岁的中国留学生，必须在抵英后的7天之内到当地警察局注册。这个要求会在签证上标明“Police Registrationwithin 7 days of Arrival in UK”的字样，只要签证上有这个标记的，都需要去警局进行注册。
有些英国大学会在校园里面统一为学生安排警察局注册，你只需要准备好学校要求的资料，然后坐等警察来收集就好。
但是，如果你错过了学校安排的注册时间，或是你的大学不安排注册，那就需要你亲自前往警察局进行注册了。

伦敦的同学们注意，凡是在伦敦地区的学生都必须去Overseas Visitors Records Office注册。非伦敦的孩子，可以先问下学校具体在哪个警局注册，给你们贴几个警察局的信息。

注册完毕后，警察局给你的那张注册单一定要保管好，弄丢了补办的时候仍然需要缴纳£34，且续签的时候需要出示这个注册证明。
