Reepham High School & College is an 11-18 comprehensive school, twelve miles north of Norwich. We are recruiting a teacher of Mandarin who will be based at our campus near Norwich.
Reepham High School & College has over 800 pupils in the main school and 200 students in the sixth form college. The school serves a very wide catchment area of nearly 400 square kilometres and 85% of our young people are brought in and out by bus.
The school is a true comprehensive school with pupils of all abilities and backgrounds. The intake of the school almost exactly mirrors the national average in terms of prior attainment. Despite this, the school achieves GCSE results that are well above the national average, indicating very high 'value added'. A Level results have consistently been exceptional since our post-16 arm opened in 2009. The Sunday Times identified the school as the 55th best comprehensive school in the country in terms of the proportion of GCSE and A Level grades at A* or A.
Reepham prides itself on having a cheerful, caring and calm atmosphere. Pupils are expected to behave very well and do behave very well. This is achieved through developing every individual's self-discipline and making every individual feel valued and cared for. As a result, not only are lessons purposeful and the pupils overwhelmingly kind, there are also lots of smiles and plenty of good humour.
We seek a talented teacher of Mandarin to start in September 2017. Experienced teachers are encouraged to apply. We offer a position in a high achieving, ambitious, friendly, well-disciplined school, in a team of supportive specialists.
Your duties and responsibilities would include
• prepares and delivers courses and lessons in accordance with curriculum requirements and teaches one or more subjects;
• prepares, assigns and corrects exercises and examinations to record and evaluate students' progress;
• prepares students for external examinations and administers and invigilates these examinations;
• maintains records of students' progress and development;
• supervises any practical work and maintains classroom discipline;
• undertakes pastoral duties;
• supervises teaching assistants and trainees;
• discusses progress with student, parents and/or other education professionals;
• assists with or plans and develops curriculum and rota of teaching duties.
You would be required to have the following skills, qualifications and experience;
• Strong work ethic
• Fluent in Mandarin Chinese (reading, writing and speaking)
• Minimum 1 year of experience in the classroom
• Ability to keep to deadlines
• Must be educated at degree level
