The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) is an internationally recognized program for students aged 14-25. It is highly regarded by colleges, universities, and employers who are all looking for stand-out and well-rounded candidates for courses and jobs.

The aim of the Award is to encourage students to participate in a wide range of activities outside of academic study to ensure they leave school as well-rounded individuals. The Award encourages the development of a range of transferable skills, including: self-confidence, leadership, planning and time management, problem solving, communication, and teamwork. 

设置这个奖项的目的是鼓励学生参加校外各项不同的活动以培养他们在离开学校后能够成为全面发展的个体。这门奖项鼓励学生各项技能的发展，包括：自信心、领导力、时间管理能力、解决问题的能力、交流能力和合作精神。

I am pleased to inform you that The Canadian International School of Hefei intends to fully support the Award and recognizes its unique capability in developing a wide range of skills and positive attributes in its students. We are launching the Bronze Award for students 14 years of age and upwards in August 2018.

In short, the Award is split into four sections: Physical, Skill, Volunteering, and Expedition. It can take no more than 9 months to complete but does often take slightly longer due to it requiring regular commitment to various activities both inside and outside of school. Your son/daughter will need to ensure they fulfil all areas of the award in order to complete and achieve their Bronze Award. 

简单来说，这个奖项分为四个部分：身体锻炼、技能、志愿服务和探索活动。完成这些活动理论上不会超过9个月的时间，但由于需要定期参加学校内外的各种活动，所需时间往往稍长一些。您需要确保您的儿子/女儿他们完成奖项中的所有领域，以便获得铜奖。

• Physical (participating in a physical activity at least once a week)

• Skill (learning a new / improving an existing skill at least once a week) 

技能（学习一项新的/提高现有技能，每周至少一次）

• Volunteering (being involved in an activity that benefits others once a week)

• Expedition (two training and assessed two-day hikes with overnight camp)
