七十年前，联合国大会通过了《世界人权宣言》。为庆祝这个周年纪念日，北京美国中心将举办一场座谈论，国际从业者们将讨论该文件的历史和意义，以及它如何继续为他们的工作提供信息。在该宣言通过时，许多人希望它能成为“各国人民和所有国家取得成就的共同标准”。这一目标实现了吗？这份文件仅仅是善意的，没有任何权威吗？请加入我们的讨论和辩论之夜。
Seventy years ago, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In celebration of this anniversary, the Beijing American Center will host a panel discussion during which international practitioners will discuss the history and significance of this document, as well as how this document continues to inform their work. At the time of adoption, many hoped the declaration would serve as a “common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations.” Has it achieved that? Is this document anything more than good intention with no authority? Join us for an evening of discussion and debate.
This program will be in English with simultaneous interpretation in Chinese.

Doors will open 30 minutes before the program starts. Please try to arrive at least 15 minutes before the program starts to allow enough time to go through security. You will NOT be admitted if you arrive half an hour after the program has started.
