阅读四选一型FIB一直都是考试的重中之重，我们再考试的时候都需要注意哪些项呢？那么，我们来看一道题，

1. Bamboo is a favoured plant among architects and designers because of its incredible strength and durability. 在做阅读四选一型题时，我们要注意两点：

·        分析选项词意的不同

·        注意文章的线索&固定搭配

1）第一个空，四个词均可以跟to相连，意思为：implies to暗示，mention to提到，indicate to表明，refer to涉及，参考。但注意，在本空的后面有个as，那么能跟as组成固定搭配的词是：refer to sth as sth把…称作…。本空的意思是：一个哥伦比亚的设计师把竹子称作大自然的钢铁。答案：refers

2）第二个空，注意四个词意的不同。Abilities能力，qualities品质，特质，talents才能，values价值。大部分同学会混淆ability和quality的不同。

·        Quality is something that youwould have been born with

·        Ability is a skill that one islearnt

所以，我们看出quality是天生的特质，而ability是后天学到的能力，talent更倾向于音乐或者绘画方面的才能。Lighter和flexible是竹子天生就有的特质，所以答案是：qualities

3）第三个空，有几个生词，scaffolding：（建造楼盘的）脚手架，towerblock：大厦。本句话的意思是：在香港这样地方的建筑工人，无论他们工作的大厦有多高，都会依赖用竹子做成的脚手架。Mass质量，top/summit定点，只有height是高度的意思。

4）第四个空，考到了pte最喜欢考查的现在完成时。现在完成时是指：过去发生的事情，对现在有很深的影响。本句的意思是：中国已经从几千年前开始种植竹子了。选择的答案是：has cultivated。

       在考查时态题时，现在完成时（have done）一直都是pte的宠儿。如果考查现在完成时后面搭配的介词时，首选since，其次选择for。

5）第五个空，用一个从句来修饰前面的those，意思是对于那些住在世界上较寒冷地区的人。其中which不能指人，are后要加ing的形式。所以，本空答案是：who

reveal: to make known or show something normally secret or hidden (把秘密或者不为人知的东西呈现出来)

discover: to find information, a place, or an object, especially for the first time (尤其指首次发现某事，某物或者某个地方)

·   measure out VS sort out

measure out: 测量，衡量，监测

eg: the machine measures out your heart rate

sort sth out分类

eg: Please sort any clothes out

·   defeat VS failure

There is no such thing as failure, unless it is accepted as such.

Every defeat is temporary unless you give up and allow it to become permanent.

defeat: 暂时性的失败。比如：一次比赛的失败。Victory和defeat是一组反义词

failure: 永久性的失败，从心里承认不如别人

·   ability VS quality

Quality is something that you would have been born with

Ability is a skill that one is learnt

Quality: 天生的特质

Ability: 后天学到的能力

·   介词搭配：

comprise of/from

augment with

prepare of/for
