On Friday, June 19th, the children of Canadian Bi-Lingual Gemdale Kindergarten and their parents and grandparents went on an all-day outing to Lingnan Park in Guangzhou! We had wonderful weather; it was sunny and warm with blue skies and white clouds.

Our adventure began on the bus ride. The Chinese and Foreign teachers sang songs with the children, asked them questions, and rewarded them with candy and treats. When we arrived at the Park, everyone got matching red and white hats. Then we wandered through the beautiful plants in the park. There were banana trees, displays of old Chinese houses and villages, displays of fruits and vegetables, and other interesting sites for the children to interact with. Everyone took lots of pictures!

By lunchtime, we had arrived at a cooking area near the Pearl River. Then the parents of our kindergarteners showed off their cooking skills! It was wonderful to see the parents working together. We lit fires and cooked chicken, cabbage, soup, and other delicious dishes. Thank you to all the parents who made such wonderful food!

During lunch, some of the children, parents, and teachers went down to the river. Since our spring outing was the day before the Dragon Boat Festival, there were some dragon boats already on the river! They were lighting firecrackers and waving to the crowds on the shore.

After lunch, we headed back towards the buses and prepared to go home. But there was enough time to stop for ice cream, cold drinks, or sugar cane juice. It was such a long, fun, sunny day that nearly everyone fell asleep on the bus ride back.

We hope all our children and their parents had a wonderful time during our Spring Outing. It was a memorable time for us; we had so much fun!
