First Speech: “Global Equity Strategy and Macro Economic Outlook”

Gary D. Black

Global Co-Chief Investment Officer

Calamos Investments

 

Mr. Gary D. Black, Global Co-Chief Investment Officer of Calamos Investments, oversees Calamos' portfolio management, trading, research and risk management in partnership with John P. Calamos, Sr., with whom he leads the Investment Committee. He joined Calamos in 2012 and has 22 years of industry experience in a number of executive leadership roles. Prior to joining Calamos in 2012, Mr. Black served as Chief Executive Officer, Chief Investment Officer, and a Founding Member of Black Capital. Prior to that, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Janus Capital Group from January 2006 through July 2009, and as President and Chief Investment Officer from April 2004 to January 2006. Prior to joining Janus, Mr. Black was Chief Investment Officer of Global Equities at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, which he joined as a partner in June 2001. Prior to this role, Mr. Black headed GSAM’s U.S. distribution efforts. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Mr. Black was Executive Vice President and head of Alliance Bernstein’s global institutional business. He started his investment career in 1992 at Sanford C. Bernstein as a senior research analyst and was named top analyst in his sector for six consecutive years.

Mr. Black earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, and a B.S. Economics degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Second Speech: “The Risks and Opportunities of Emerging Markets Fixed Income Investment”


Uwe Schillhorn, CFA

Managing Director and Head of Emerging Markets Debt

UBS Global Asset Management

 

Mr. Uwe Schillhorn, CFA is currently Managing Director and Head of Emerging Markets Debt at UBS Global Asset Management. Mr. Schillhorn oversees the management of all emerging markets fixed income portfolios, including research, formulation and implementation of investment strategy, and trading at the firm. He is also responsible for analysis and management of fixed income investments in Latin American countries as well as for EM currencies. Previously, Mr. Schillhorn launched UBS’s predecessor Swiss Bank Corporation’s Luxembourg-based emerging market bond and money market mutual funds in 1995 and he has managed these funds since their inception. Prior to joining UBS’s Institutional Asset Management Group, Uwe was responsible for the research and management of fixed income products and securities lending at the Postbank in Bonn, Germany.

Uwe has written several articles, which appear in textbooks edited by Frank J. Fabozzi. He received his master’s degree from University of Freiburg in Germany.
