ArchitectureThe traveling center, located in the Dagushan Mountain area, stands as a symbol of the area by presenting the local natural feature. The project aims to represent natural wood and mountain with the structure of V-shaped column and stone volume. It consists of four parallel volumes formed by V-shaped columns in picturesque disorder, which creates a space that is full of forest-like atmosphere. Stone volumes symbolize rocks, along with wood, to represent nature. In addition, steel members of the nodes are stuck in between timbers to make the structure more natural. The four parallel volumes echo the roads in direction, and they provide the interior enough daylight and great sight towards the mountains. The layout of the project is similar with Chinese traditional siheyuan, and the rooms are around a courtyard. Along with the porch is the souvenir shop with its own entrance. The volume in front of the courtyard is high and spacious which contains information center and gallery, while the latter volume is smaller and quieter so that the teahouse is set in it. Most of the space on both sides of the courtyard is used for offices and auxiliary rooms. The library is on the upper floor.
