THERE wouldn’t be too many people in South Australia that can say supermodel Miranda Kerr posed for a photo shoot in their house.
But if you buy a marina-front home at 21 Cygnet Court Glenelg North, you can.
The home has just hit the market and the vendor, who wished to remain anonymous, said it had hosted a range of national and international celebrities, including supermodel Miranda Kerr, who posed for a David Jones photo shoot at the home.
“She loved my children and my daughter hung out with her for a few hours afterwards, she’s just a great person, very unpretentious,” he said.
“There have been a lot of national and international celebrities and rock artists that have been here, so that may add a bit of weight for some people.”
While the vendor didn’t want to list too many of those famous visitors, he did drop a few names.
“Andrew Strong rehearsed there for the last three years before his Australian tours with The Commitments band,” the vendor said.
“Mark Holden’s partied here, Jamie Durie’s partied here because we were involved for a few years in the same industry, and Jimmy Barnes’ brother Swanee has popped in for a jam.”
Belle Property Unley agent Damian Popowycz, who is selling the home, said the home was a landmark property for the area.
“All of the celebrities do add a certain star quality to the house, and it is certainly a talking point, but I think the property speaks for itself without that,” Mr Popowycz said.
“It’s the largest home on the Glenelg marina and it has the widest frontage and has the most living space on the marina.
“They don’t come up that often, there have been a handful of them sold over the years, but nothing of this size or calibre.”
The home has five bedrooms, 1100sqm of living space, multiple living areas, a lift, a swimming pool with viewing windows, a home cinema and a music room.
Mr Popowycz said he expected the property to be one of the year’s top sales.
“It’s a big call to make this early in the year, but I certainly think it will be up there with some of the most notable sales of the year,” Mr Popowycz said.
“We’re hoping to set a new benchmark for sales with this property, we believe it will set a new benchmark.”
According to CoreLogic RP Data, the top sale for Cygnet Court was 5 Cygnet Court Glenelg North, which sold for $4.6 million in December 2012.
Mr Popowycz said the home would suit a range of buyers.
“There’s every chance the buyer may come from interstate or overseas, but I wouldn’t be surprised if a local buyer showed interest in it simply because nothing like this has been offered before and it might be a while before it comes on again,” Mr Popowycz said.
“It’s large enough to cater for families ... but it’s the type of property that once you lock it up it’s all secure and minimal maintenance and you can lock it up and leave.”
