My client is a successful, well-established specialist online retailer, selling to public and trade, who are based in Greater Manchester. They are looking to appoint an experienced Purchasing Manager who can speak Cantonese or Mandarin, to manage the company purchasing function; and enhance the relationship with the far east suppliers.

The successful candidate will manage the purchasing function from a strategic and transactional perspective, along with the regular day to day tasks. You will also be responsible for purchasing projects such as product and supplier rationalisation and new product assistance.

-   Manage the day to day transactional purchasing function 

-   Manage the group purchasing strategy and stakeholder engagement

-   Supplier relationship management with regular performance reviews against KPI’s 

-   Supplier Quality Conformance

-   Identify improvement opportunities and present to the business relevant market innovations

-   Work with sales, product managers and other team members on new products or alternative sourcing

-   System data integrity in relation to product information, availability and pricing

-   Negotiate prices and terms with existing and new suppliers to secure business improvement and growth

-   Must have experience of purchasing autonomously within a distribution or manufacturing business

-   Cantonese or Mandarin language speaker

-   Experience of supplier engagement and relationship building

-   Stakeholder management 

-   ‘Can do’ attitude with innovative thinking

-   Ethical and professional team player

-   Sage 200 / CIPS / Degree would be advantageous, but is not essential

-   Strong negotiation skills

-   Be able to quantify and/or demonstrate successes in previous roles at interview

-   Have experience of managing supplier performance 

-   Positive and enthusiastic approach
