大家都知道燃烧化石燃料会释放二氧化碳气体burning fossil fuels release carbon dioxide emissions (CO2 emissions)， 也称温室气体 greenhouse emissions. 各种交通工具尤其是飞机和臭名昭著的柴油汽车different modes of transportation，including airplanes and diesel vehicles， 释放出更多的有毒气体 pumping out a higher amount of poisonous particles and gases. 那么除了我们大家熟知的空气污染这一后果air pollution, 和其带来的健康问题 affecting human health and wellbeing, 例如心脏病和肺癌， such as heart decease stroke and lung cancer 还有什么消极的对环境的影响呢？Detrimental impact on the environment?

  原来另一个消极的影响是不光人类不喜欢二氧化碳气体， 大海也不喜欢， 为什么呢？ 因为温室气体最后会被海水吸收，减低海水的酸碱值，使海水酸化CO2 from fossil fuels dissolves in seawater, and it produces carbon acid and this lowers the pH of the water，leading to the acidification of the sea water 从而导致很多海洋生物的死亡， 甚至一些物种的灭绝， 影响整个食物网,  adversely affecting marine life across all groups, such as warm-water corals, starfish and clams, which affects the whole food web. 最终， 这些改变会影响海洋给我们提供的一切服务， 所以受害者是我们人类自己. At the end of the day, these changes will affect the many services the ocean provides to us.
