In the United States, students who are deaf are providededucational opportunities that help them reach their full potential. Pleasejoin us at the Beijing American Center for a chance to meet fourrepresentatives from three different American educational institutions helpingthe deaf and one special guest of honor. Mr. Terry Wilding will share how theMinnesota State Academy for the Deaf provides pre-school through age 21programming. Mr. Bakar Ali will share how the National Technical Institute forthe Deaf provides deaf and hard of hearing students a wide variety of dynamicacademic programs that lead to a variety of careers. Ms. Evon Black, will sharehow Gallaudet University is the premier university for students who are deaffrom around the world. A special guest of honor, Ms. Leah Katz Hernandez whoserved as the first deaf receptionist for the United States White House underPresident Obama, will also be in attendance. All four panelists are deaf adultsthemselves who now have leadership roles within their institutions. Thisprogram will be moderated by Mr. Joseph Jones, Executive Director of the HarkinInstitute in Des Moines, Iowa.
This presentation will be in American Sign Language withtranslation into Chinese Sign Language, spoken English, and spoken Chinese.
