为悼念美国第41任总统乔治·赫伯特·沃克·布什去世，上海美国中心请来了美领馆的公共外交专员OmairM. Mirza，带大家回顾布什总统的生平功绩。乔治·H·W·布什把为他人服务视为生活幸福的秘诀之一。在它看来，这种人生观赋予了生命更大的意义、更好的目的和更丰富的经历。正如他自己总结的：“任何有关成功人生的定义都必须包括为别人服务。”讲座中，我们会回顾布什总统从二战海军飞行员到总统任期再到卸任总统后的生活，回顾他为国家服务的一生、他的政治遗产和对世界的影响。

In observation of the passing of the 41st President of the United States,George Herbert Walker Bush, the Shanghai American Center welcomes PublicDiplomacy Assistant, Omair M. Mirza for a conversation on the life and legacyof an American patriot. President George H.W. Bush regarded a life of serviceto others as one of life’s secrets to happiness. From hisperspective, this approach imbued life with greater meaning, purpose, andadventure, not to mention success. As he so succinctly put it, “[A]ny definition of a successfullife must include serving others.” From his days as a Navy pilot inWorld War II to his presidency and to his work post-presidency, we will honorhis service and his legacy and impact on the world.

Omair M. Mirza是美国驻上海总领事馆新闻文化处的公共外交专员。此前，Omair曾在华盛顿国会山工作，担任众议员AndreCarson的立法助理。他的家乡是德克萨斯州休斯顿，他拥有休斯敦大学的商业学士学位。

Omair M. Mirza is the Public Diplomacy Assistant serving in the Public AffairsSection of the U.S. Consulate General in Shanghai. Previously, Omair served asLegislative Assistant to Congressman Andre Carson in his Washington, DC officeon Capitol Hill. He is a native of Houston, Texas and holds a business degreefrom the University of Houston.

The Geminids Meteor Shower is one of Earth's biggest and brightest annualmeteor showers. This year, the Geminids will be active from December 4-17,peaking on December 14th, when over 150 meteors per hour will streak across thesky. Although best viewed at least 60 miles from major urban areas, some ofthese meteors will be visible right in the heart of Shanghai. The Geminids arethe remnants of 3200 Phaethon, itself a large asteroid which broke apart as itneared the sun. Still, the asteroid remains largely intact with a trail ofsmaller asteroids that will shower our sky. On December 6th, join ForeignService Officer Lawrence Foster, who is also a NASA/Jet Propulsion Laboratory(NASA/JPL) Solar System Ambassador, in a discussion about the Geminids and, morebroadly, NASA’s current missions to visit other remnants of the solar system’sformation. The NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador program works with passionateand motivated citizen scientists to share the latest science and discoveriesrelated to the U.S. space program. These Solar System Ambassadors teach, train,and present NASA’s findings at events around the world. This informaldiscussion will help you share the excitement of the upcoming Geminids withyour family and friends.
