IPA首席执行官Andrew Conway说：“腐败不仅侵蚀信任，而且对经济增长产生直接的不利影响。

ACCOUNTING PROFESSION SPEARHEADS ATTACK ONCORRUPTION

The Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) aspart of the global accounting profession is supporting the United Nation’sInternational Anti-Corruption activities which included a special awareness dayon 9 December.

The World Economic Forum estimates that everyyear the cost of corruption is at least US$2.6 trillion - or 5 per cent ofglobal domestic product. According to the World Bank, businesses andindividuals pay more than US$1 trillion in bribes each year.

“Corruption not only erodes trust, it has adirect detrimental impact on economic growth,” said IPA chief executiveofficer, Andrew Conway.

“Accountants play a pivotal role in thisunited fight against corruption.

“As a profession, we hold the responsibilityto promote greater transparency and accountability, employ stronger ethics andlift the standard of integrity,” said Mr Conway.
